Conservation Occupational Resource Education

Madera Fire Safe Council and Coarsegold Resource Conservation District (CRCD) launch CORE program.

The Eastern Madera County Fire Safe Council's Bob Buckles is taking on the oversight of an innovative collaborative program known as the Conservation Occupation Resource Education or CORE. The program will put at risk youths to work in an earn while you learn environment.

A component of the Air Quality Improvement and Fuels Reduction Project of the Eastern Madera County Fire Safe Council the CORE program will educate and train participants in conservation and fire safety while on the job.

The participants will be paid minimum wage while working on community projects in the area. The goal is to provide opportunity, education, valuable skills and ethics, and to assist the local community in air quality improvement and fuels reduction.

The program is expected to launch in the spring of 2003.
